Tim went up to the nice german lady at the backerei and said "Ein one of these bitte", pointing at a pretzel. He realised moments later that he could just say, "Ein pretzel bitte". Awesome.
yay for language issues!! i got introduced to a german in my course, with lauren's german is very good. and when jute asked me how i learned german, i thought she asked me how i was and i said good. ha!!
PS - you can also use einmal to order one of something. direct translation is 'one time', but used when ordering stuff. e.g: einmal pretzel bitte.
